What kind of U8 communities do we have out there? Should we include links?

[edit] The iotas over the intro...

Some confusion over what the Guardian says in the intro. "No one here knows of the Avatar" or "No one here knows of thee, Avatar"? It's definitely the former. For a number of reasons.

Generally, Guardian speaks in "modern" 2nd person pronouns in the games (as evidenced by this intro: "You have been a thorn in my side..." and also in Ultima VII intro, "You too shall kneel before me, Avatar...")

Secondly, it's "No one here knows of the AVATAR!" in the subtitles that appear in Pentagram, and Pentagram, to my knowledge, hasn't hacked them in (the expression doesn't appear in Pentagram source tree, so it has to come from somewhere else). The string definitely can also be found in the game file STATIC/EINTRO.SKF; Not sure if there's a way to enable these in-game. I presume this is what gets displayed if the Speech Pack isn't installed. Right now, I can't verify, but I think this is pretty strong evidence on what is actually said in the game.

I'd suggest someone verify this without speech pack, please... --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 15:46, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

I agree that it is "the Avatar" and not "thee... Avatar" although I don't agree that studying the speech patterns of an enemy that is not even consistant in nature between 7, 8, and 9 is conclusive evidence, I don't see any reason to call him "thee" in this portion, especially since a portion of the game invovles introducing yourself as "the avatar" and getting negetive responses because of it.
