The Chinese Elm Ulmus parvifolia cultivar 'Pendens' was listed by Rehder in Jour. Arnold. Arb. 26: 473, 1872 as Ulmus parvifolia f. pendens, and described as having long, loosely pendulous branches. The cultivar originated in California before 1930 from seed received from China, but is not known to have been commercially released [1]. 'Pendens' is not known to be in cultivation in Europe or Australasia.
