The European White Elm Ulmus laevis cultivar 'Ornata' was erroneously identified by Carrière as U. communis (: glabra) ornata in Revue Hort. 554, 1858. Two of the trees, growing at Toulouse, were reported by Mlle. Y. de Ferre, to be still alive in 1964, and were noted for their resistance to insect attack [1].
