The Wych Elm Ulmus glabra cultivar 'Nigra', the Black Irish Elm, was first mentioned by Loddiges, ex Loudon, in Arb. Frut. Brit. 3: 1898 [1]. The tree was said to have particularly deep-green leaves.
'Nigra' is not known to have been introduced to North America or Australasia, nor is it known to be available from nurseries.
