The Wych Elm, Ulmus glabra cultivar 'Gittisham', is reputed to have a comparatively high resistance to Dutch elm disease. It was cloned from an old tree found in the village of Gittisham, Devon. The tree is being evaluated for its disease-resistance by the French quango Cemagref at Le pépiniére de l'etat, Guémené-Penfao, and will be inoculated in 2009.
