Origin
Europe

The Wych Elm Ulmus glabra cultivar 'Dovaei' was raised by the Andre Leroy nursery at Angers, France, as Ulmus dovaei before 1868. Leroy described it as a vigorous tree, well-shaped, proper for avenues [1]. Introduced to Australia, the tree was marketed in the early 20th century by the former Gembrook Nursery near Melbourne. Described as 'large leaved, strong grower', the tree was planted along the Avenue of Honour in Ballarat in 1918. It is not known whether the tree survives in Australia, and it is unlikely the tree remains in cultivation in Europe.
