The American Elm Ulmus americana cultivar 'Markham' was cloned from "an outstanding tree" growing naturally at Avon, New York before 1950 [1]. The original tree, now long dead, was of great size, and possessed an extremely pendulous branching habit [2]. It is not known if 'Markham' remains in cultivation.
