The possible Wych Elm Ulmus glabra cultivar 'Rubra' was listed in the Simon-Louis (Metz, France) Catalogue , p. 97, 1869, as Ulmus campestris rubra. Krüssmann, in Handb. Laubgeh. 2: 535, 1962 identified it as a cultivar. The tree is distinguished solely by the deep red colouring of the inner bark of young branchlets [1]. It is not known whether the tree remains in cultivation.
