'Recerta' is an American cultivar raised by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) as selection '196-5' from seed obtained from a specimen of Siberian Elm Ulmus pumila in Volgagrad, Russia; the male parent deduced as the Field Elm Ulmus minor [1] [2]. Considered only "somewhat resistant to Dutch elm disease" [3], serious doubts as to its long term culture in Europe have been expressed [4]. Registered in 1993 as 'Recerta' by Conrad Appel KG, of Darmstadt, Germany.
