The possible Smooth-leaved Elm U. minor subsp. minor cultivar 'Planifolia' was listed by Loudon in Arb. Frut. Brit. 3: 1377, 1838 as Ulmus campestris (:minor) var. planifolia. Described as "a handsome small tree, closely resembling U. campestris var. parvifolia" (ie the Chinese Elm Ulmus parvifolia Jacq.). Green opined that the species was uncertain and probably now extinct [1].
