The hybrid cultivar 'Lincoln' was selected from crossings of the Siberian Elm Ulmus pumila and Red Elm Ulmus rubra made in Illinois circa 1958 and patented in 1983. Reputed to be a very cold-hardy [Zone 3] tree, it is distinguished by retention of its dark-green leaves well into autumn [1]. Although reported (in patent) to be resistant to Dutch elm disease, it has not been widely tested [1].

'Lincoln' is not known to have been introduced to Europe or Australasia.
