Ulises

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ulises (sometimes spelled Ulysses) is a male captive orca, currently living at SeaWorld San Diego, California. Ulises was about 3 years old when captured. He was then sold to now-defunct Aquarama Barcelona, Spain. He lived with dolphins in a very small tank. Sometime between March and April 1993, he was sold to SeaWorld. There, he lives in a much bigger tank with several orcas. He never sired any calf, apparently caused by a sperm problem. Ulises is an extremely gentle orca and is one of the few captive bulls with whom trainers go in the water with. He goes on well with all the other whales except Corky. He is especially close to the young males Nakai and Sumar. He measures about 20.3 feet (6.2 metres) and weighs 9400 pounds (4200 kilos).
