Deletion Nominations

I am trying to nominate (and re-nominate in some cases) deletion for articles of people related to Barack Obama that are noty notable. There is already some support for deletion. Please consider weighing in on the talk pages of these articles: Barack Obama, Sr., Ann Dunham, Maya Soetoro-Ng, Madelyn and Stanley Dunham, and Sarah Obama. These are all biographies. Peer review request

Hi Ukexpat, I've submitted an article for peer review, and read that editors are "strongly encouraged to seek out other Wikipedians for comment". I've had a look at the volunteers page and you stood out because 1) you're a copyeditor and 2) you're British! The article is on the Sindy doll, and I thought that as you're from Britain, you may have at least heard of the doll, and you can ensure the article is written in British English. (It's currently in Australian English, which I hope is close enough to British for few mistakes in that regard!) No worries if you don't have time or aren't interested. :) The peer review is here. Thanks, Somno (talk) 08:54, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Vectropy

I have expanded the Vectropy page to hopefully better meet the requirements. I apologize for my repeated unsatisfactory edits, I am relatively new to Wikipedia and thought I'd add this as it seems to be gaining popularity in the upcoming WPF/Silverlight developments. The article is now substantially more detailed than many similar ones (e.g. a large number of other graphics editors in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Graphics_software_stubs). I hope the new page meets your expectations.

Thanks! Trucelan —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trucelan (talkcontribs) 20:22, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Anteater Edit You Undid

You've reverted an edit I made to this:

"Anteaters are the four mammal species of the suborder Vermilingua[1] commonly known for eating ants and termites.[2] The name is also colloquially applied to the aardvark, the numbat, the echidna, and the pangolin. Together with the sloths, they comprise the order Pilosa."

That phrasing can be misunderstood as including aardvark, numbat, echidna, pangolin in Pilosa.

My edit corrected that potential confusion without changing any factual information -- only prose presentation -- so your reversion seems to be an odd thing to do etiquette-wise and not providing any factual correction or other benefit.

Switching back. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.216.16.147 (talk) 04:18, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Archiving setup

Good news: it looks fine. Automatic archiving of all topics inactive for >7 days will be automatically archived to User talk:Ukexpat/Archive 1 and then to subsequently numbered pages once the previous one reaches 250K in size. You already have the archive box, so everything should be set up perfectly; just wait for MiszaBot III's cycle to begin, and everything should be done automatically! (Unless you have so many old topics that you cause it to break, of course...) haz (talk) 13:03, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Black African English people

A deleted this category as it is basically rubbihs. It needs completing or deleting all together, it should include all people listed in the List of black Britons article, as these are all of Black African descent. There are millions of black people in the UK, and hundreds if not thousands of famous ones with Wikipedia articles.

Explain this to me

How is improving Carolina Kostner's article vandalism?

speedy delete

You marked easylearning for speedy deletion as spam or advertising. The program is recognised by the UN Global Compact Initiative so is not simply a product, but is delivering education to developing countries. The wikipedia E-learning page lists many similar companies, although none seemingly with the same objective as easylearning, under the Proprietary subhead. I would argue easylearning, as a program with clear social responsibilty elements, is also worthy of inclusion. I have reworded in case it sounded too advertisement-like and added UNIDO and UNGC links. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rtm1969 (talkcontribs) 21:19, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Speedy deletion of Park Resorts

You recently contacted me about the speedy deletion of the aforementioned article. I have no attachment to this article and I see no reason why I'd want to prevent its deletion. The article had been hijacked by Park Resorts employees, so became biased. I believe another editor has reverted the article to the last unbiased revision, so it may now not be considered criteria for deletion. I don't often deal with the deletion system so I'm not sure whether to tag the now-reverted version or let it be deleted, which it had long deserved. Regards /Marbles (talk) 21:28, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Request for Peer Review help

Thank you for you work as a peer review volunteer. Since March, there has been a concerted effort to make sure all peer review requests get some response. Requests that have gone three days or longer without a substantial response are listed at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog. I have three requests to help this continue.

1) If you are asked to do a peer review, please ask the person who made the request to also do a review, preferably of a request that has not yet had feedback. This is fairly simple, but helps. For example when I review requests on the backlog list, I close with Hope this helps. If my comments are useful, please consider peer reviewing an article, especially one at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog (which is how I found this article). Yours, ...

2) While there are several people who help with the backlog, lately I have been doing up to 3 or 4 peer reviews a day and can not keep this up much longer. We need help. Since there are now well over 100 names on the PR volunteers page, if each volunteer reviewed just one PR request without a response from the list each month, it would easily take care of the "no response" backlog. To help spread out the load, I suggest those willing pick a day of the month and do a review that day (for example, my first edit was on the 8th, so I could pick the 8th). Please pick a peer review request with no responses yet, if possible off the backlog list. If you want, leave a note on my talk page as to which day you picked and I will remind you each month.

3) I have made some proposals to add some limits to peer review requests at Wikipedia_talk:Peer_review#Proposed_limits. The idea is to prevent any one user from overly burdening the process. These seem fairly reasonable (one PR request per editor per day, only four total PR requests per editor at a time, PR requests with cleanup banners can be delisted (like GAN quick fail), and wait two weeks to relist a PR request after it is archived), but have gotten no feedback in one week. If you have any thoughts on these, please weigh in.

Thanks again for your help and in advance for any assistance with the backlog. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 20:58, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

BMF AG

I don't a agree with the delation about BMF AG, because this article is linked with other lifts manufacturers like Montaval, Poma, Doppelmayr, Lift Engineering. If this companies appears in Wikipedia, BMF should appear to be complete. I deletde the commercial lines in the article. Thanks,

Why are you deleting two articles

I can't see the point in deleting these two articles, they are both strong, popular companies internationally and there are no other pages about them on wikipedia. Falcon-eagle2008 —Preceding comment was added at 14:35, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Tim Beckham

And this is why I should never attempt to evaluate any sports related article: I apparently have no idea about notability or non-notability in these areas. Thanks for the link to the guidelines at Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball which is pretty clear. In light of them, I think you are right about qualifying for SD. I was busy looking at the sources, not at the baseline guideline recommendations. I'm going to close the AfD and speedy it. My mistake and sorry to make you have to do the AfD route. re vandalism

What vandalism have I committed? I don't understand. When is it acceptable to remove unreferenced material and when is it not allowed? I'm really unsure, because I try to follow the behavior of distinguished editors on this site and I see all sort of unreferenced material removed. Maybe you can clear that up for me. Greetings,

I am a little stumped as to why adding a genuine link [external resource] to a forum set up to discuss fuel prices are being deemed as vandalism.
