Uemura Masahisa

In this Japanese name, the family name is Uemura.

Uemura Masahisa (植村 正久; 1857 – 1925) was a Japanese Christian priest and critic of Meiji and Taisho periods.

Uemura was born to the family of Hatamoto (rank of samurai), he converted to Christianity, studying English and theology. Later, he made his name in the circle of critics, writing about theological topics. He also protested against a preaching of Imperial Rescript on Education.
