[edit] Estonia v Russia
Oddly enough despite the report, the dubious goals panels has given Bystrov the goal over Kerzhakov. According to UEFA its been changed *again*. Gaijin84 13:20, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Elimination and Estonia
Thanks for fixing my quite obvious error regarding the Estonian elimination scenarios. It was kinda late at night. Kingnavland 22:58, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- No worries. I'm spending an evening in with the sniffles, so I'm going to pore over all the groups and work all the possibilities out. I'm one of those geeky fellas that gets off on working stuff out. :D Aheyfromhome 17:38, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Midweek fixtures
Am I right in concluding that if Croatia avoid defeat against Israel tonight, an England win in Moscow on Wednesday would qualify both England and Croatia for the finals? LondonStatto 16:20, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] England drawing Russia
This will not automatically qualify England - it would leave England with 24 points and Russia with 19. Russia has two fixtures remaining after that, and England has one - if England also loses to Croatia and Russia wins its two remaining fixtures, Russia would go through over England. Phil Sandifer 18:35, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
No they wont, because if Russia and England draw their head-to-head score will be England 4p, Russia 1p. Therefore England go through.Sorry, thought they where 6 points apart Chandlertalk 19:27, 13 October 2007 (UTC)- No, but Croatia will qualify then. Lejman 22:00, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Croatia
Croatia will fail to qualify only if:
- Croatia loses to FYR of Macedonia, and
- Croatia loses to England by 2-0 or by 3 or more goals, and
- Russia defeats Israel, and
- Russia defeats Andorra.
Regarding the 2 goal difference. They won by 2-0 at home, so England needs to win by 3 goals, or win with 2-0. (Then England needs to have better total goal difference, the difference is +21 for Croatia and +18 for England. If England wins by 2-0 and Croatia loses to Macedonia, it'll be +20 for England and +18 or less for Croatia.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lejman (talk • contribs) 18:51, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] England @ Russia vs. Israel
So if Russia wins England would fail to qualify? --Howard the Duck 14:13, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, if you assume that Russia will beat Andorra away. Basicly if Russia win both their last 2 games, England are out. Given the record of Andorra, the popular view is that if Russia beat Israel then the job's as good as done. However if Russia make the mother of all cock-ups in Andorra then England are back in it against Croatia.Aheyfromhome 14:32, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
It's really just a matter of totting up the points from the last matches and seeing who comes out on top.
- If Russia get all 6 points then they'll finish on 27, which England can't reach even with a win against Croatia. (However England could still overtake Croatia)
- If Russia get only 4 points then they'll finish on 25, so England will need to win against Croatia to finish on 26.
- If Russia get 3 points then they'll finish on 24, so England will need a win or draw to finish above them (England have a better head-to-head record against Russia)
- If Russia get 2 points then they'll finish on 23 points, and because England have a better head-to-head record, England would be through no matter what. Aheyfromhome 14:48, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, seeing as it was a draw, England will qualify, and Russia will be eliminated if England avoid defeat against Croatia if England loose, then assuming the win is a given for Russia in Andorra, England will be out. England will top the group if they beat Croatia 2-0, or by 3 clear goals. F9T 13:34, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The Table
I think I may have accidentally gotten rid of part of the standings, can someone change this.
Cheers :)
The table is wrong, but I can't find a way to rectify it. England are out, Russia in. Dcbandicoot (talk) 05:23, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- The table is a template, {{UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying Group E}}. I have reverted the vandalism that put England ahead of Russia. - MTC (talk) 06:12, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
