Udachny

Udachny (Russian: Уда́чный) is a town in the Sakha Republic, Russia, located 1,370 km north-west of Yakutsk on the Markha River at . Population: 15,698 (2002 Census). Founded as an urban-type settlement in 1968; town status since 1987. The economy is based on diamond extraction from the Udachnaya pipe discovered in 1955.
