The current University of California, San Diego seal. UCSD's rules governing the appearance, presentation, and construction of this seal were set in the UCSD Graphic Identity Guidelines and Policies on January 2001. The seal was instated in 2001.

This file was created by extracting the official version presented in the previously mentioned Guidelines file. The official print and web display color is black (or UCSD blue).

This is a logo of an organization, item, or event, and is protected by copyright and/or trademark. This seal qualifies as fair use in University of California, San Diego and UC San Diego School of Medicine under Wikipedia's copyright guidelines on logos as follows:

Under United States law, this seal, a trademark of UCSD, may be used on other sites for purposes of criticism and commentary. The Wikipedia article serves to do just that. Furthermore, the trademark may not be used in an artistic or editorial setting. Its presence in the infobox in the UCSD article is neither artistic or editorial.
There is no free equivalent.
In no way does this inhibit trademark policies set forth by UCSD. It cannot and will not be used to sell merchandise or propagate advertisement.
It is the highest resolution of the official seal available to the public. It is the only university seal published in UCSD media.
