Amphinectomys savamis (Malygin, 1994]) |
The Ucayali Water Rat (Amphinectomys savamis) is a species of water rat from the Peruvian amazon. It was discovered in 1994, and although it has morphological similarities to the species of the Nectomys genus it is different enough (with more expansive interdigital webbing and a significantly broader interorbital region) to require its own genus.
