"U" is the first promotional single for the C-pop boy band, Super Junior-M. "U" is a Mandarin remake of Super Junior's 2006 single "U", a pop/dance song written by Ken Ingwersen and Kevin Simm. The song and music video were released in China on April 8, 2008, also the same day of the group's debut.
[edit] Background
"U" is the first promotional single by Super Junior-M and also one of the twelve tracks that will be featured in their debut studio album, Me, which will be released in China in mid-April. Different from the original work, Super Junior-M's modified version of "U" contains heavier bass instruments, a closer approach to hip hop, and extra music bridges, such as the violin solo segment performed by Henry and the dance solo segment just before that.
[edit] Music video
"U"'s dance choreography is also completely changed from the original. The choreography contains a variety of styles, such as different elements of street dancing and jazz-influenced dances to complement the maturity in the song, a slight different image from the main group, Super Junior. The music video features a tall young female model, her face dominating the mirrors, with the Super Junior-M members searching for her presence.
