U.S. Highway 31 (US-31), internally designated by the Alabama Department of Transportation as State Route 3 (SR-3), is a major north-south state highway across the U.S. state of Alabama. US-31 begins in Spanish Fort at the junction of US-90 (SR-16), with US-98 (SR-42) bypassing the intersection but accessible either way via US-90. SR-3 ends at the final merge with I-65 in Athens, while US-31 continues concurrent with I-65 to the Tennessee state line. US-31 roughly parallels I-65 throughout the state and serve as a route to connect rural towns throughout the state.
