[edit] Oklahoma's Status?

Officially the apropos basketball team is now the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. Can we remove Oklahoma from the list, maybe with an asterisk?

  • I would say it's only safe to do so once the city of New Orleans safely and permanently regains their Hornets. I think it may be hard for Louisiana to get their NBA team back with the success they've had in central Oklahoma. Oklahoma City has proven itself as very able to sustain a major league sports team this year, and is high on the list for future NBA expansion potential. Eric 21:01, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Oklahoma must be removed from the map. The city never had a team based in there. Somebody please make this article more accurate and remove Oklahoma City from the map? Tboy206 18:51, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] What About Territories?

In recent years, both Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia have been home to the franchise formerly know as the Montreal Expos.

(At this writing, the team is allegedly going to remain the Washington Nationals, but MLB still hasn't chosen an owner, the stadium deal is not yet final and the D.C. Council could screw up a two-car funeral. So the team's wanderings may yet continue.)

But Guam has never had a major league team, nor the Panama Canal Zone. Are there others? Trust territories? Guantanamo? Pre-state Alaska or Hawaii?

  • The article is titled "US States without major sports teams". Besides, the Panama Canal Zone is now back under the jurisdiction of Panama, and has been for years. Eric 20:45, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
  • But it still includes stuff about Canada. Qutezuce 20:54, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ABA and WHA

Since part of the American Basketball Association merged into the NBA, and since part of the World Hockey Association merged with the NHL, shouldn't states which had teams in those leagues be considered as having once had major league teams? There were teams in Virginia and Kentucky in the ABA ... User:Zoe|(talk) 05:40, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Canadian provinces rooting for an U.S. Team

I'm still worried about the Candian provinces that they maybe rooting at least one team from the U.S.

The following provinces possibly rooting for an U.S. Team

[edit] How is this an article?

I mean, there's nothing wrong with it per se, but I'm confused - how can this be an encyclopedic article? What about countries who have never elected a female leader? Or nations that have never visited the moon? Or a list of Americans who have never been president? I realize that there is a men without hats article, but seriously. --Hamiltonian 18:21, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

|| That comment is uncalled for. There is not a floor of importance/seriousness to be topical. If you want heavy articles that are missing, do the research yourself & submit. Avoid what you consider light. Major league sports are a multi-billion dollar industry seen, in viewership #'s per game, many times the total population of the US.

[edit] Nevada

Very good analysis & description of stats. On a tangential note, for Las Vegas, I have 2 theories why it might take a while to have a team: too much other stuff to do; and many newcomers that root for the team from whence they came.
