From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The renumbering of SR 340 to SR 12 was in 1935. 08-1935-02 includes "Route 340 with 3 wires #6 TOT 115-230v, about half a mile east of Stuarts Draft, Augusta County" and 10-1935-01 includes "Route 12, 6.0 miles north of Greenville". Then SR 12 became US 340 in 1953. 03-1953-01 24 includes "old Route 12 in Clarke County being no longer necessary for uses as a primary highway" and 11-1953-01 includes "Route 340, Bridge and Approaches South Fork Shenandoah River - Near Grove Hill, Page County". --NE2 18:30, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
