SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 is a video game for the PlayStation Portable handheld and the sequel to SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo. The game was released in North America on November 7, 2006. Fireteam Bravo 2 features an entirely new campaign, multiplayer maps, and new features such as Command Equity and Local Influence (see below). Fireteam Bravo 2's campaign mode offers 14 story missions, a variety of partners including LONESTAR, and two partners named BRONCO and WRAITH from SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Mobile Recon which was only available for cell phones, and an innumerable number of dynamically generated instant action missions. Rather than spanning multiple countries like past games in the series, the game takes place solely in the fictional country of Adjikistan. The country is supposedly situated somewhere in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region of Central Asia and features a number of environment and climate zones, allowing for the game to feature a wide variety of landscapes and settings while working within one large, connected story. The main adversaries throughout the game are mercenaries, often abbreviated as "mercs". This game is also able to sync with the PlayStation 2 game SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Combined Assault in order to unlock bonus features.

  • Command Equity system provides rewards for how well core aspects of a mission are completed, while Local Influence rewards those who help local causes and limit civilian casualties. Use them to gain access to new weapons, equipment, intel, air-strikes and local support. It is also earned in online games.
  • Battle through eight new multiplayer maps, as well as four of the original Fireteam Bravo maps, and three new game types (Tug of War, Capture the Flag, Target) playable in Infrastructure Mode and Ad Hoc modes.
  • Enhanced Crosstalk with SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault for the PS2, including a single story arc, and all new action events and unlockables.
  • Association with Naval Special ensures realistic SEAL team tactics, missions, and character movements.
  • Asymmetrical mission structure allows players to play missions in any order they want. Completed mission areas can open new missions and objectives for the player to complete.

As previously described, this story is set in Adjikistan, a fictional country that is experiencing civil unrest. At first, it appears that the Adjiki rebel factions are simply terrorists, but as the story progresses it is revealed that the president of Adjikistan is in fact corrupt and using his influence and hired mercenaries to crush all who oppose him. The levels progress from fighting guards of poppy plantations to high intensity firefights involving extremely well armed mercenaries. The final level requires the player to capture the leader of the mercenary group. In the closing cinematic, O'Rourke is captured by Sandman, and unknown forces arrive on location. There is a tense moment until Sandman is told that the forces are of Clawhammer Industries, and are there to help. Later in the cinematic the people of Adjikistan are shown tearing down a statue of their former president, the scene reminiscent of Iraq and the toppling of statues of Saddam Hussein. (Actually, the president bears a resemblance to Hussein.) Several subplots are also present, the most prominent of the involving Kevin O'Rourke, the fictional leader of the mercenary group. In one of the first cinematics, he is shown taking over a Clawhammer Defense Industries compound, a fictional defence contractor, presumably to steal something or just destroy it. His original intent is never fully revealed, but in another cinematic, another character implies that he is running arms to an Adjiki government-controlled terrorist group. In the same cinematic, it is revealed through a flashback after a terrorist he threatened said that O'Rourke did not understand what it as to be fighting for your country, that O'Rourke was a former special forces soldier, possibly SAS, and was captured or possibly just injured and left to die during a botched mission in the NAPF stronghold (a mission in SOCOM FTB 1). As he walks away, he touches his scar, which was shown to be caused by a rifle butt to the face in the cinematic. This is believed to be the source of his anger and vengeance seeking, as he mocks the player during the final mission by loudspeaker, questioning why they fight and die as manipulated puppets.

  • Move To Crosshairs - Move your teammate to the location where your crosshairs are pointed.
  • Cover Target - Cover a specific target by pointing your crosshairs at the target and issuing this command. Your teammate

will move within effective shooting range of the selected target and fire upon any hostiles near the target.

  • Follow - You take point while your teammate follows behind you, assuming your body position. For example, if you go

prone, they will follow suit.

  • Hold Position - Your teammate will hold their current position until otherwise instructed or until you have moved too

far away from him.

In Socom Fireteam Bravo 2 Glitching and Hacking has thrived since the release of the game. Hackers started creating codes for the game since the game's release in 2006. Zipper interactive has made attempts to stop all hacking and glitching with recent updates. New updates have been released, such as the 1.40 update that was released in January 2008. SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 2 Glitching and Hacking was originated at Thesocomhackers, they found an ability to get passed Zippers multiple updates, and DMA.

  • Heavy Suppressor

The heavy suppressor will eliminate the majority of the muzzle flash and volume of fired rounds, at the cost of reduced accuracy.

  • Light Suppressor

The light suppressor will eliminate some muzzle flash and volume of fired rounds, at the cost of slightly reduced accuracy.

  • Low Scope

The low power scope offers 1.5x and 3x zoom, ideal for assault rifles and other medium or low range weapons.

  • Vari-scope

The vari-scope offers, 4.0x, 6.0x and 8.0x magnification, and is suitable for most medium or long range weapons.

  • High Scope

The high power scope offers 8.0x magnification, making it ideal for sniper rifles.

  • Red Dot Scope

The red dot scope slightly improves the accuracy of the weapon to which it is attached and provides 1.5x magnifiation.

  • Laser Sight

The laser sight improves the accuracy and aim recovery speed for which ever weapon it is attached to but does not provide any scope functionality.

  • Thermal Scope

The thermal scope uses advanced infrared technology and heat detection, allowing for enhanced vision at 4.0x zoom.

There are 12 multiplayer maps in Fireteam Bravo 2, four of which are returning from the first Fireteam Bravo. Multiplayer game modes are playable on each of these maps. Play up to 16 players in one room.

"Rockslide" is a map that is located in a remote plateau with a river around it. The Seal and Mercenary sides are connected with several passageways, one over the plateau, one along the river, and another found right next to the plateau.

"Silent Canyon" is set in a hidden poppy farm nestled within a remote valley. Two small farming areas are connected by caves and a twisting path and a water tunnel over a small hill. It is playable with up to 16 players in Demolition, Extraction, Free For All, Intel Grab, Suppression, Target, and Tug-of-War.

"Getaway" is set around an expensive villa high up in the mountains. An underground cave network connects the villa to the beach and features a route directly into the villa itself which goes underground. It is playable with up to 16 players in Demolition, Extraction, Free For All, Intel Grab, Suppression, Target, and Tug-of-War.

"Surge" is set around a massive hydroelectric dam facility that provides 80% of the power for the region. Multiple routes connect the upper and lower levels of the dam, providing several routes into enemy territory. It is playable with up to 16 players in Demolition, Extraction, Free For All, Intel Grab, Suppression, Target, and Tug-of-War.

"Tripwire" is set around a drilling platform which has been converted into a makeshift fortress. Two ships have been grafted onto the platform with narrow catwalks connecting them to the fortress section. It is playable with up to 16 players in Demolition, Extraction, Free For All, Intel Grab, Suppression, Target, and Tug-of-War.

"Siege" is set around an old abandoned bunker once used as a storage facility for weapons shipments. Narrow tunnels provide alternate routes to the enemy base, but are also ideal locations for an ambush. It is playable with up to 16 players in Demolition, Extraction, Free For All, Intel Grab, Suppression, Target, and Tug-of-War.

"Frosty's Revenge" is set around communications tower that separates the hangars. There are several entrance routes as well as perches for sniping. It is playable with up to 16 players in Demolition, Extraction, Free For All, Intel Grab, Suppression, Target, and Tug-of-War. Despite rumors to the contrary, this map was NOT named after some gamer that is dying of AIDS but rather an ode to the old children's cartoon "Frosty the Snowman".

"Frosty's Revenge" was created by the Zipper team to honor SOCOM Fireteam Bravo player and former PlayStation Underground forums moderator "BFrosty". BFrosty distinguished himself online SOCOM Fireteam Bravo as a helpful and honorable player, and was recognized by Zipper Interactive's Ed Byrne and the SOCOM Fireteam Bravo development team on the SocomBlog, being labeled a local hero. BFrosty's real name is being kept private, and he suffers from a rare form of kidney disease which requires him to undergo daily kidney dialysis. Hidden somewhere on "Frosty's Revenge" is a snowman, representing BFrosty's online persona. There is also another BFrosty's snowman hidden online in the SOCOM Combined Assault online map Siphon.

"Cutoff" is set in an abandoned industrial city. An old rail yard warehouse lies in the center of the city near a run-down hotel. It is playable with up to 16 players in Demolition, Extraction, Free For All, Intel Grab, Suppression, Target, and Tug-of-War. It is also the biggest map for sniping games.

"Market Day" is set around a deserted village marketplace. Stands containing fresh herbs and spices are useful as cover, while the shady passages branching off the main plaza are excellent for ambushes. There is a platform overlooking the market which is an excellent sniping location. It is playable with up to 16 players in Demolition, Extraction, Free For All, Intel Grab, Suppression, Target, and Tug-of-War. Glitches have NOT been removed. Glitches include crawling through fences, automatic shotguns, Nome mounts, and a feces spewing obscenety. Unfortunately, these glitches have not been patched.

"Thin Ice" is set around a snow-covered farm and boathouse connected by a service tunnel. The open ground is easily defended by snipers or ranged explosives while the underground tunnel is quick and has many potential ambush locations. It is playable with up to 16 players in Demolition, Extraction, Free For All, Intel Grab, Suppression, Target, and Tug-of-War.

- When the display of the game opens during hover over the "UMD" symbol in the "XMB", there are two Seals holding two different guns. One is a G36 Assault Rifle and the other an MG36 Machine Gun. Neither of these weapons are available in the game, but are available in the Playstation 2 companion game SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals: Combined Assault and also in the PSP game SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals Tactical Strike.

- After 114 misions have been completed there is a "sausage fest" instead of a normal instant action mission. You will collect various sausages across the level and gain many CE points (17000 CE).

- In the level where the player must Infiltrate the Poppy Plantation, the player can get a bonus objective by restraining all people and not killing anyone. A secret point will appear called "Rainbow's End". The player can go to it, where there will actually a pot of gold. If the player sends the mission companion to go and get it, or goes and retrieves it himself, it will say that you have completed a bonus objective. 50 CE points are awarded for finding the pot of gold. It is important to note that you must capture all enemy and go back top-side and retrieve the gold before you detonate the drug stash. This is only available if the player does it in the "Campaign" mode and not "Instant Action" mode. This was reportedly discovered by Socom players.

-In certain areas of the mission "Eagle's Nest" the player will hear repeated "gonging" noises, as opposed to the normal score.

On August 3, Zipper finally released the long awaited patch. The patch updates Socom Fireteam Bravo to version 1.30 and addresses these issues:

• Addressed an exploit which was causing the game to freeze when attempting to join certain lobbies.

• Addressed the issue with Command Equity being saved from multiplayer games. CE will now save prior to returning to the lobby.

• Addressed an issue which could cause the game to freeze when switching the WLAN switch off during at the end of a multiplayer round.

• Addressed an issue that caused a user's game to freeze temporarily at the end of a save flow and boots back to the Main Lobby screen.

• Addressed an issue which caused the game to freeze on a blue screen while loading into a Rift game that was already in progress.

• Addressed a minor text issue which was displayed when ejecting the memory stick.

• Several other smaller fixes.

~ In late January 2008 A patch was released to..

~ Remove glitches.- This however did not work as homebrewers were able to find new glitches within 24 hours using the same glitch spots. To do this, you have to be completely parallel with the wall you want to glitch into, making it possible to glitch into every flat wall in the game.

~ They removed White dots that show teammate's bodies.

~ Prevents switching to your secondary with triangle but you can switch to your primary.

~ Turned off Voice Chat when players are dead.

~ Cannot target lock as far.

- Also Administrators are searching for hackers and banning them.

-On the Official Sony forums a Dev posted that a new patch is in the works to remove the bugs that the January update caused. The bugs are not known but many believe that the removal of white dots when people die is a bug and so is not being able to talk when dead.
