[edit] Biography
Tyssem's parents separated when she was only 4 years old, and her mother died when she was 10 years old. The death of her mother profoundly marked her, and she started writing music to help her cope with the pain from the loss. She also discovered a love for the great singers while spending time at her mother's discotheque. She lists Mariah Carey, Otis Redding and Lionel Richie as some of her biggest influences, along with French singer Edith Piaf and Belgian singer Jacques Brel.
She knew at 13 years old that she wanted to be a professional singer, but her family encouraged her to finish her studies before pursuing her dream. She tried several styles of music; joining rock and rap groups before deciding to try a solo career.
Her first album (still untitled) will be released in the fall of 2007 by Polydor/Universal, but she can currently be heard on the French language remix of "The Way I Are" by Timbaland. Her first single is entitled "Regarde".
