Tyrrellspass (Irish: Bealach an Tirialaigh) is a Georgian village in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is located 81km from Dublin and is situated in the south of the county on the R446 (formerly the N6) road.
In 1597 there was a battle in Tyrrellspass. The Irish, led by Tyrrell, ambushed and defeated the English army.
There is a historic castle on the edge of the town, built by Captain Richard Tyrrell.
Tyrrellspass has an excellent senior football team and are considered one of the best clubs in Ireland.[citation needed] The GAA team won the Westmeath Senior Championship in 2006 and defended their title in 2007. In the 2007-2008 Leinster Championship they progressed as far as the final, where they were beaten by the eventual champions St. Vincents of Dublin.
