The Tyrone Junior Football Club Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the WJ Dolan Tyrone Junior Football Club Championship) is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the 17 Tyrone clubs competing in Division 3 of the Tyrone All-County Football league.[1]

The winners of the Tyrone Championship qualify to represent their county in the Ulster Junior Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship. They also gain promotion to Division 2 of the Tyrone All-County Football league for the following season, regardless of their final standing in the Division 3 league that year. Therefore as the winners compete in the Tyrone Intermediate Football Championship the following year, the holders do not defend their title.

The winners of the 2007 Tyrone Junior Football Club Championship were Rock St. Patrick's who defeated Beragh Red Knights 1-12 to 2-5 in a replay at Healy Park, Omagh after the first match ended in a draw. Rock went on to win the Ulster Junior Club Football Championship beating Aughnamullen of Monaghan in the final. [2] After defeating Clann na nGael of Meath after extra time in the All-Ireland Semi Final,[3] they lost out to Canovee of Cork at Croke Park, Dublin.[4]

[edit] History

The tournament was first held in 1904 with Coalisland the first champions defeating Killyclogher in the final. [5]
