Tyro, North Carolina

Tyro is an unincorporated community located a few miles west of Lexington and 24 miles south of Winston-Salem in Davidson County, North Carolina. Located only minutes outside of Tyro is Daniel Boone's Cave Park located on the Yadkin River. Daniel Boone is rumored to have once hidden in the cave from a group of Native Americans that where avidly pursuring him. Neighboring communities include Reeds, Churchland, Linwood and Southmont. Tyro is home to West Davidson High School, as well as Tyro Middle School; both of which are part of the Davidson County School System.

Tyro has a growing small business community, with several national chain stores (such as Subway Restaurants, Dollar General Stores, and Movie Gallery), Lexington State Bank (soon to be NewBridge Bank) and SunTrust Bank branches, and a pharmacy opening in the last 5 years.
