In my opinion, this article is way too horribly written. Too much fanon (I don't think the name Mr.X was officially used by Capcom) and too many spelling errors. It has potential though, but it needs a serious rewrite.Jonny2x4 22:37, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

- It's better now, but it still needs improvement. I took the liberty of replacing the images that were ripped off from ResidentEvilFan with full-sized versions of the actual official artworks. I need a better T-002 artwork though. Also, the descriptions needs to be rewritten. I've never seen the name Mr.X used officially by Capcom's Japanese Biohazard materials (it seems to be an informal name). They always referred to it as Tyrant. The only time I've seen it used officially was in ToyBiz's Resident Evil 2 toyline (which is hardly reliable).Jonny2x4 05:03, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

Wesker calls it the "Tyrant Virus" in the very first game. And the Nosferatu is nothing even close to a tyrant.

[edit] Tyrant (RE1 version) in RE3?
In that final room, where you use the rail gun against Nemisis, I distinctly remember seeing a dead Tyrant. He is laying in a sitting position up against the wall in one of the corners. I think he may of been torn in half. Would someone please confirm? I reeeeeeeally, don't feel like re-laying this game all over again just for that little bit (As this was my least favorite RE.)09:21, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- It may have been somat to do with the group of T-103s who were battling a large ammount of USS troops. maybe the Tyrant was killed by the Railgun and Nemesis was scavenging.OsirisV 15:10, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
It´s a dead Super-Tyrant. Its not torn in half, though the Nemesis´ 3rd phase starts eating on it and then mutates.. and, well,first of all, the "T-104" only appears on the Showdown 3-scenario in outbreak #2.. and has hardly anything to do with the storyline, being a simple "boss rush" scenario.. Also, I believe it is at least worth mentioning that the T-103 is referred to as "Mr.X" by fans universally. Also, at least one "official" source mentions the name "Mr X": the Outbreak #2 soundtrack: there is a track called "The Brutal Mr. X" there.

- Thanatos-R returned for a third battle before ultimately being subdued by an ampoule filled with a sample of the Daylight, a cure to the T-Virus which acted by arresting all proliferation of the pathogen within cells, thus, making it lethal to any and all T-Virus-infected Bio-Organic Weapons.

I can claim to know pretty much anything possible about this particular subject, being a devoted fan of the series. Took the liberty of correcting a ton of small things, and adding a mention of the "R"-types: both the T-103 and the T-400tp undergo a mutation into a "Tyrant-R", and this name is official: it is mentioned, for instance, in the game Outbreak: File 2#, in the event checklist: "Defeated Tyrant R" is the event, and this is checked upon defeating the aforementioned mutant form. Defeating it while its still in the so-called "Mr. X" form nets the player a "Defeated Tyrant" event. Moreover, the T-103 from RE2 and the OB2 T-0400tp look basically identical after mutating.
Also, the Thanatos tyrant needed a mention of it´s mutated form. It is quite different enough from the original creature to deserve a mention. Once again, the name "Thanatos-R" is official.
I wonder, would it be worth mentioning that the T-400tp is eventually absorbed and assimilated by a certain other Bio-weapon, the NYX?
- The thing is that revealing a lot of spoilers if often frowned upon by Wikipedia's higher editors. (I myself was berated for revealing additional and descriptive information regrading various video games. Anyway, I think I can work in something about the Thanatos-R Tyrant, but I may need an external source.

I believe that (T-00) is just as official as the name "Mr. X". Actually, the only reason that the T-078 is called the T-078 is that the freezer tank it comes out of bears the number "078". Now,come think of it, where does the name "T-103" come from? Because if I remember correctly, the tank they use to drop Mr. X into the police station DOES bear the numbers "00". On the other hand, the helicopter carried *six* such tanks,and If I recall correctly, they were numbered 00 through 05.
Anyone know if Mr. X is ever officially referred to as a "T-103", maybe in those god-awful-but-still-canonical Gun Survivor games? Then again, maybe the detail has just slipped past me.
Found it now. There´s a file in Resident Evil 2 that mentions the "T-103 model", being superior to the "t-002".
- In reality, no one, but Capcom, knows how or why Tyrants are named the way they are :-p. Some fans have made theories, but the bottom line is that their based on speculation. until then, we should just call him Mr. X. According to his official toy, he is called "Mr. X". Furthermore, I guess he deserves his own section. [1]
- Until Capcom actually reveals the true etymology of the Tyrants, it's some what reasonable to believe the "03" or "02" suffix in their name relates to their production number. --ShadowJester07 04:08, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
In retrospect, I´m 100% sure I´ve read the name "T-103" being mentioned somewhere- very possibly in the Gun Survivor game, since that one revolves a lot around the T-103 type. In my opinion, though, the name Mr. X is pretty much official, since any fan of the game knows exactly what character the name refers to- even S.D. Perry´s novelization of RE2 uses the name "Mr X". True, thats just as unofficial as the action figure´s name, but it is so established in the fan community by now that its good as official. Also, the description of Mr. X is very vague, and indeed faulty: it states that they bear dual talons, for instance: this is wrong! In the "Mr. X" phase, they are VERY different from the predecessor models, looking far more human, albeit unable to talk, and deathly pale. But most importantly, they have NO talons whatsoever until their mutation, at which point they are no logner classified as "Mr. X", but rather "Tyrant-R" or simply "Super Tyrant"- until that they are nothing more than a huge, scary bloke with enough strenght to literally walk through walls.
Mr X has always been more of an American name for the Resident Evil 2 Tyrant than an actual name for the creature given by the developers. In all the official Japanese descriptions, he's always been named the Tyrant (or the T-103 model) and it's never been used in-game. Jonny2x4 18:50, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
I dare say it´s not just an "American" name: basically anybody familiar with the series will immediately understand what or who is referred to as "Mr X". Its "official" enough.
- First of all, sign your posts. Second of all, read the Biohazard/Resident Evil Archives. You'll notice "Mr. X" is only mentioned in the book's glossary and defines it "American name for the Tyrant in Resident Evil 2 that appeared on a toy's packaging". It's basically the official equalivent of a well-known fan name. Not matter how widely used it is, it's still not his canonical name. Jonny2x4 19:25, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

First of all,
This changes, however, if the T-103 suffers serious injury, after which it will mutate and display the features seen in other Tyrant models. This mutation includes talons on both hands, and increased muscle mass.
This is absolutely untrue. the only recorded case of a T-103 mutating this way occurred in RE2 when Mr. X was exposed to the G-virus, after falling into a vat full of molten metal which a sample of the virus had also fallen into. Therefore, we can infer with relative ease that it was the exposure to the G-virus, and not the injuries, which mutated the T-103.

- i don't remember Capcom having official rights over the Comic Books Strategy Guides and Action Figures? Most magazines based off of a francise created by another company arn't always Canon. Strategy Guides arn't always considered canon either. Action Figures create their own info. take the Prophet of Mercy action figure from halo 2, it created a name for him. Unless Shinji Mikami himself posted it as Canon on an Official Capcom site, it won't be officialy recognised by the entire public as 100% canon.OsirisV 15:20, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Mr. X did NOT mutate because of the G-virus, infact, the G-virus wasn't even thrown into the molten iron pit. He fell into it himself after being shot in the face by Ada, seeing as Leon B - Claire A is the official scenario setup for RE2.

Well... The T-0400TP is just a T-103 with slightly different programming, allowing it to serve its masters (for a bit) instead of following pre-set orders and acting a renegade. The T-0400TP-R looks alot like the Mutated T-103 seen in 2. Suggesting that it is infact a T-103-R. Another T-103-R is seen in Umbrella Chronicles, it isn't T-0400TP-R because it wouldn't have had time to climb up, loose all its health, somehow walk off the ledge, get health back and be absorbed.OsirisV (talk) 15:08, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Could this be possible: "as the T-00...'s have been refered to as the "00 series" (00 meaning "double zero"), this may mean the 00 series Tyrants were experimental forms, whilst the T-100 series were the finished products.
