Typhoon Durian (disambiguation)

The name Durian was on the name list for the western north Pacific and wa used for two tropical cyclones since the list was introduced in 2000. The name was contributed by Thailand and refers to a popular Southeast Asian fruit, Durio zibethinus.
- 2001's Typhoon Durian, which made landfall in the People's Republic of China killing 78, and
- 2006's Typhoon Durian, which killed 831 people in the Philippines and Vietnam.
The name was retired by the ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee in 2006, and a replacement name will be announced in late 2007.
