The Type 096 submarine is a new class of SSBN rumored to be in development for the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). According to photographs [1] of a gold-plated model of an unknown Chinese SSBN leaked to Chinese military BBS, the new submarine will carry 24 SLBMs. It will be the successor to the Type 094 SSBN currently under evaluation by the PLAN.
