Tyler metropolitan area

The Tyler Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of one county – Smith – in East Texas, anchored by the city of Tyler. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 174,706 (though a July 1, 2007 estimate placed the population at 198,705).[1]

The Tyler Metropolitan Statistical Area is also a component of the Tyler–Jacksonville Combined Statistical Area, which covers two counties (Smith and Cherokee) and had an estimated population of 246,874 as of July 1, 2007.[2]
