Tyler "Ty" Marshall
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tyler "Ty" Marshall is a fictional character within the pages of the Stephen King and Peter Straub collaboration Black House, itself a sequel to their first joint effort, The Talisman.
Tyler Marshall is an unassuming, rather frail ten year-old child, at least physically; in reality, and unbeknownst to almost everyone in the universe including young Tyler himself, he is a Breaker; moreover, he is not just a garden variety Breaker, but one of the most powerful Breakers ever discovered, second in power only to Mordred Deschain himself.
In addition to his potential as a Breaker, Tyler is by far the strongest telekinetic ever shown in Stephen King's cosmology; he is, in fact, more powerful by several orders of magnitude than even Carrie White (the main character in the novel Carrie).
[edit] Relevance of the character
As the events of "Black House" reach a climax, young Tyler finds himself trapped in one of the infinite rooms that comprise the dimensional multiversal nexus that is the Black House itself.
Due to the timely efforts of Henry Leyden, Tyler is able to deliver the killing blow to the serial child-murderer The Fisherman (who had been badly injured by Leyden before he died and therefore weakened to the point that Tyler was able to defeat him unaided), before falling into the clutches of Mr. Munshun; fortunately, the delay was just enough for Jack Sawyer to arrive on scene, and destroy Mr. Munshun himself.
Soon afterwards, Tyler, now fully aware of his telekinetic powers, uses a single mental blast to destroy a literally miles-high interdimensional device, known as the Big Combination; in turn, the psychic shock and release of mystic energies kills a seemingly infinite number of evildoers across the Multiverse and renders the Black House almost completely inert.
