Diablo III is the fan-given title to the predicted sequel to the successful Hack and Slash gaming series Diablo by Blizzard Entertainment.

Many rumors have been floating around as to whether or not Diablo III is a hoax, but several well connected gaming gurus have insisted that the leaking of rumors and job postings were done purposely by Blizzard to get the ball rolling^{[citation needed]}. Some close to Blizzard employees claim that this game has been in development for over 4 years, but was re-evaluated and is now being heavily updated and modified. The popular fan-site Diablo3.com announced the Blizzard takeover of that specific domain name on May 1st, 2008, fuelling further rumour mills. The acquisition of brand related domain names is common practice for blizzard, stipulating so in their home site's faq. The fact that the domain had remained untouched by blizzard for, what was apparantly, over five years, further aroused speculation amongst the ever increasing diablo fan-base.
