Tyan Business Unit (formerly Tyan Computer Corporation), a subsidiary of MiTAC International, is a manufacturer of computer motherboards, including models for both Intel and AMD. They make high-end server, SMP, and desktop systems.
The company was founded in 1989 by Dr. T. Symon Chang, a veteran of IBM and Intel. Tyan is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. North American headquarters are in Fremont, California. The merger with MiTAC, a Taiwanese OEM for server manufacturers, was announced in March 2007 [1] and completed on October 1st of that year.
