Ty G. Allushuski

Ty G. Allushuski is an American sportswriter. He was most recently a freelance reporter residing in Oxford, Mississippi, until accepting a position at the Birmingham News. His work has been recognized with several awards.

Allushuski's sportswriting career began as a freshman at the University of Mississippi. Allushuski interned at USA Today in the summer of 2006, and later signed a freelance agreement with the paper. He served as Sports Editor of the Daily Mississippian in the summer of 2007. He recently accepted a post-graduate internship at the Birmingham News.

Allushuski's work has appeared in USA Today, Sports Illustrated On Campus, the Clarion Ledger, and the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, among others.

Allushuski's work covers a wide range of sports topics including wheelchair rugby, the confederate flag, and tailgating, but primarily focuses on football and baseball. He is best known for his 2006 article, Rebs' depth up in smoke, that broke the details of a marijuana-smoking scandal on the University of Mississippi football team.

Ty Talks was Allushuski's short-lived blog that debuted June 8, 2007. The blog started as a Bill Simmons-type diary about Allushuski's trip to Tempe, Arizona with the Ole Miss baseball team for the 2007 Super Regional against Arizona State. Ty Talks developed a sizeable internet following during its infancy and consistently ranked as the most-viewed sports page on the Daily Mississippian's website.

Talkin' Rebels is a weekly, one-hour radio talk show heard on 92.1/WUMS in Oxford, Mississippi. The show debuted Jan. 28, 2008 and is dedicated to the nationally-ranked Ole Miss baseball team. Allushuski is a co-host of the show, along with Ben Garrett of Rebel Radio, and Chase Parham of the Ole Miss Spirit. The show includes coaches, former players, and friends of the Ole Miss baseball team. It is currently the most listened-to hour on Rebel Radio
