[edit] British Raj
... being a new user I wan't aware. I have edited a few pages, but so far haven't seen an edit war. My edit seemed uncontroversial as its been up for a few weeks without change. I put the justification for the edit into the discussion page. There were no objections. I just checked the entry and someone had edited out anything that showed the British rule in India as anthing but positive. I did check for an explanation in the discussion page but didn't see anything. Today I find a rash of entries (someone had put a comment in the reversion note). Ok, I take the point and will see if consensus can be found in the discussion page. txbangert, 2 May 2008
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on British Raj. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Leithp 12:10, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 3RR and discussion on Talk:British Raj
Dear Txbangert (talk · contribs), Welcome to Wikipedia! Since you are a new user, I wanted to let you know that you have made more than three reverts in less than 24 hours. Please be warned that the 3 revert rule (which allows a maximum of three reverts by one user in an article in less than 24 hours) is non-negotiable and a violation of it will lead to your getting blocked. You have also not replied to the discussion on the Talk:British Raj page. Please reply there first. Warm regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 12:13, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- PS Just so that you know: here are the four reverts:

[edit] Edit warring on British Raj
... point taken, will see what you have to say in the discussion section first. I would suggest you read the German wikipedia entry, which is 'British India' rather than 'Raj'. The term 'Raj' is by definition not neutral, and if used an explanation must be given of the term itself. I would prefer British Colonial occupation of India myself but I accept that there are people who do not agree that British colonialism and empire was essentially a criminal enterprise. What you have to accept is that there are many people (particularly in India) who do think this. A neutral POV has to chart the middle ground between these extremes. Also, as far as I know the term 'Raj' in not used in America (other than presumably British authors) and as I said on the German site there is no entry at all for it. Dear Txbangert (talk · contribs), Please be aware that the 3RR rule is not a mathematically precise rule: in other words, adding a new revert to your count, each time a previous one expires, and keeping your "revert count" at three reverts can still get you blocked, especially if you do not discuss the issue on the talk page. I would again like to encourage you to find some academic sources that make the case that the term, "British Raj" is a euphemism used in Britain, and then discuss the issue on the Talk:British Raj page. That is the best way of resolving the issue. Very best regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 15:36, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
