The TX-1000 series (TX-1000系電車 TX-1000 kei densha?) is an EMU which operates on the Tsukuba Express. A total of 84 cars were purchased.

Its first 6-car prototype was built in March 2003, and subsequently between March 2004 and January 2005, 13 more similar sets were manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

The train is intended for only Akihabara – Moriya services, in which this section of the line is powered by 1,500 V DC. Seats are arranged longitudinally, allowing more standing passengers in the metropolitan area. The Miraidaira – Tsukuba AC segment is operated by the TX-2000 series.
