User:Two halves
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I used to post with this IP address (206.15.46.129), and very regularly I have been posting from my job on dynamically assigned IP numbers, almost always numbered 159.83.183.xxx. This may change soon, as my employer is installing a internet filter on their network. (I don't know if I will be able to edit from work once the filtering begins. I hope that I will be able to continue editing.)
I still manage a few edits a day on workdays, but I don't wiki much from home.
When I decided to get a user name, for some unexplained reason, the Wire song, "Come Back in Two Halves" came into my head. I thought it was called, "Come Back as Two Halves" at that time.
I work in one of these. I live here.
There are now more than 1 million articles in the English-language Wikipedia, which is beyond mind-blowing. I am honored, yet humbled, to be a part of this community, and I will miss it when I leave. (It's inevitable, though.) I have given to Wikipedia, but Wikipedia has given me so much more in return. I can safely say that there are too many people out in wikiland that have been patient, friendly, and helpful. And I want to thank all of you.
Note to Newcomers:
There are some people who work on the Wikipedia who are not polite. You might say that they are mean and rude. You would do well to ignore their coarseness, even when their criticisms of your writing are valid. Cruel comments should not deter you from trying to make the Wikipedia the best Free Encyclopedia in existence. If you might be one of these rude people, you might consider the effect of what you are saying to others.
"I-I-I know what you're gonna say son. When two halves is gone there's nuthin' left - and you're right. It's a little ol' worm who wasn't there. Two nuthins is nuthin'. That's mathematics son. You can argue with me but you can't argue with figures. Two half nuthins is a whole nuthin'." - Foghorn Leghorn
