Twombly, Maine

Twombly is an unorganized territory located in Penobscot County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the unorganized territory had a total population of 2. According to the United States Census Bureau it is one of only 5 places in the United States with a population of two people. The others are Success, New Hampshire, Hove Mobile Park, North Dakota, Oil Springs Reservation, Cattaraugus County, New York, and Monowi, Nebraska.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the unorganized territory has a total area of 45.1 square miles (116.8 km²), of which, 43.9 square miles (113.7 km²) of it is land and 1.2 square miles (3.2 km²) of it is water. The total area is 2.70% water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there is one married couple living in the territory. Both are white and above 65. Their median age is 68 years. There are 11 housing units (apparently 10 are empty) at an average density of 0.1/km² (0.3/sq mi).
