[edit] Cub Scouts
Is this similar to the salute used by Cub Scouts? - knoodelhed 08:24, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Well yes -- according from what I can see on this http://www.geocities.com/~pack215/cs-salute.html picture. Polish salute however differ in point of touching the hat's visor. I shall update the article later today. Przepla 19:19, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)
But in the cub scout salute the palm faces away from the signer, toward the person or flag being saluted - I leave this for someone else to correct.
hey hey, it's not like that. Polish Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts/Girl Guides (scouts and guides of all ages, apart from brownies and wolf cubs) when covered also salute to the emblem (mainly fleur-de-lys), not to the eyebrow. When one doesn't have a hat on, he salutes only by nodding the head or by raising right hand in three-fingers salute or by saluting to the Badge (a cross, as a matter of fact) Matildasnape 22:19, 2 October 2006 (UTC) matildasnape
[edit] Two fingers gesture in medieval art
An anonymous [1] added pictures of two fingers gesture in medieval art. Do they have significance here, I have no idea. Przepla 19:41, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Return of the Jedi
Didn't Luke Skywalker use this salute to signal R2-D2 in Return of the Jedi? Siyavash 16:46, 21 June 2007 (UTC) No although he did show only two fingers. 195.153.45.54 13:16, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Gears of War
What's this information doing in an article about the two-fingered salute? Surely it's off topic?!?
[edit] Restricting article to proper salute
While there is some merit in the appearance of decency on Wikipedia, perhaps it is a bit overzealous to keep the obscene gesture out of this article? Although life-long resident of America, I have never heard of the Boy scout salute referred to as the "two-finger salute," but have long been familiar of the English obscene gesture, probably because of Monty Python's Flying Circus. I'm not quite clear on Wikipedia policy on how to measure usage in English language publications (google books or google scholar?) but if usage favors the insult variation, it should receive prominence rather than a minor reference or redirect. A separate article could be dedicated to "Boy Scout Salute." The Polish military salute is better served by reference in a number of other articles about salutes, military salutes, Polish military, by a proper name in the Polish lanugage, etc. Cuvtixo (talk) 14:52, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
