[edit] Awards and Television shows
I put some information about their awards and the TV shows, but i find it very difficult to translate it, plz help me to translate it!!!User:51victor xD i am here
- As the lecturer said that it is an English wikipedia, we have to translate all those names of the adwards immediately, otherwise, I am afraid that we may need to delete it. 51eunicelam20:29, 3 Mar 2004
-
- Agree. I think it is impossible to do it within such a short time. Indeed, people can find Twins achievement from thier official websites. If there is no other opinions, I think we can make the decision at 11:00pm. 50precilachan 12:49, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
-
-
- I think we may need to have a decision now. Is there anyone who does not agree that we should delete the list of awards? Otherwise I will delete it by 11:45pm. 51eunicelam 23:22, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit] some suggestoins
Do any one agrees to add something like their hobbies or the films produced by either one of them? If so, i will do it as soon as possibleUser:51victor
- I think that it is unnecessary to add the hobbies as it seems to be not related. However, I like the idea of adding individual films produced by either one of them.50precilachan 13:40, 29 Feb 2004 (UTC)
At the very beginning, there are 2 separate paragraphs on Twins and twin. I merge them together as I think they are related. Also, I think the main concept should be put on the musical group. 50precilachan 13:02, 18 Feb 2004 (UTC)
[edit] change the structure
I have a great change on the structure of the paper because i think it is better to give some introduction on Twins, and then give a brief outline on their show business. Also, I think it is better to avoid using 's because it seems informal. 50precilachan 07:55, 19 Feb 2004 (UTC)
[edit] "Concert" added
Since i can't find the english name of the concert, I hope someone can help in adding english name in this web, thank you. 52barrywong 22:19, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Maybe we can translate it into putonghua piyin?50precilachan 21:58, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)
-
- But I think that even though we rewrite it in putonghua, it will not do any better as the English readers still don't understand it. If we can't find the exact english name for it, should we provide our own translation instead, with the chinese name quoted behind? 51eunicelam 12:58, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

- I can only find the english name for the first concert, and i have added it in. 51eunicelam 13:44, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

- Your suggestion is ok. I agree. Indeed, I tried to find out the English version of those CDs, but I could not find them out from looking at the cover of those CDs, except the one Si Xi Lin Men Xi Ying Chun. 50precilachan 16:01, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Offtopic, but I just wanted to point out to the person who's been creating a large number of usernames (50xxx, 51xxx, 52xxx) [1] that such behavior is discouraged on wikipedia. -- Arvindn 19:10, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- It's possibly another school/university project. User:Fuzheado's classes have similar user names - although they are more anonymous, so I presume this isn't one of his (see Wikipedia:School and university projects) -- sannse (talk) 19:35, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I am sorry that we have caused troubles to other users on wikipedia. However, since it is an university project and it is a standard format for representing ourselves like this (50xxx), so that we cannot do much to change the situation. Fortunately, our project will be ended next week, so please tolerate this for a week more. Thanks. 50precilachan 20:13, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)

- Oh, that's fine then. If its different people then I have no problem at all. And I hope you'll continue to contribute after the project ends :-) -- Arvindn 05:14, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)

[edit] suggestion to the title "start of their show business"
I have a suggestion that maybe we should change this title because I found it a little bit strange and i don't think it is an usual way to write English. Moreover, after we have added some more information in these paragraphys, the context has changed, as they include information that is not related to how Twins started their singing business. Do you think that we should replace the original title with something like "Twins' show business"? 51eunicelam 18:11, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Agree. Indeed, I realise the content after the title is not related and I am thinking of re-organising the articles.I think it is better to divide it into a start, the progress until now and the expectation on future.50precilachan 21:52, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)
-
- I'm so happy that you've noticed this problem and I think you've made a good suggestion that we can divide the information into three parts. I will change the original title into 'Twins' show business' first and we can have further improvement later.51eunicelam 13:08, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)
-
-
- I've made a large change in the organization of the article. just as what we have agreed on, the new structure is divided into four parts: the start of Twins' career, the first two years of their struggling, the present moment and the future. Hope that it will make the passage much clearer.51eunicelam 21:28, 28 Feb 2004 (UTC)

[edit] two internal links deleted
I have delected two internal links of "EEG" and "concerts" as they link to blank pages. But actually, I do think that it is a good idea to make a link for EEG if we have something to write about. 51eunicelam 18:46, 26 Feb 2004
- That's ok. I want to do so before. Indeed, I also think it is a great idea to make a link for EEG. Actually, from the photo, there is already a link to EEG. Do we use the same link?50precilachan 21:58, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)
-
- I have already added a link to EEG. But it is an official link instead of a link inside wikipedia. Do you think we should create a particular site for EEG in wikipedia?50precilachan 16:43, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

- EEG has its own wikipedia page at Emperor Entertainment Group - Pandacomics 03:08, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Titles
Titles like 愛情當入樽 will not work on the English Wikipedia. I assume this is because we don't have UTF8 encoding as they do work on the Chinese Wikipedia. Please could you translate and use the English words for these albums instead. You might also want to look at WikiProject Albums to see how articles on albums should be formatted. The titles would normally be the name of the album, not with the group name included. So it would be whatever [[愛情當入樽]] is in English, not [[Twins (愛情當入樽)]]. If there was a need to disambiguate because there was already an article with that title, then it would be best to use the album name followed by (album), so the English equivalent of [[愛情當入樽 (album)]]. Angela. 17:18, Feb 26, 2004 (UTC)~
- Great thanks to you. I will try my best ot transfer the title as it does not have an English version one.50precilachan 21:54, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Twins third CD
To: 51eunicelam I find that there are 2 existing links about the 3rd CD Twins (雙生兒), which one is created by me while the other one is created by you. I know that there is problem on the title of the page I created. However, I wonder whether editing the title of the page is more appropriate then creating a new one. Also, this brings out another problem whether which one should be deleted?
Besides, according to the advise from Angela, the title of the page you created is not appropriate enough. It should be Twins (EP). Maybe we should get a conclusion before doing any correction?
Anyways, thanks a lot for help me to correct the mistake.50precilachan 22:41, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm sorry that I have made such a problem. Actually I just want to correct the title of the page you've made, but at that time I was not familiar with the editing methods of the wikipedia. As I didn't know how to edit the title of the page, I just simply created a new one. Anyway, is there any differences in the content between the two link? Actually as I see it, as both of us want to improve our project, I don't mind if my link is delected. which link do you think is better? 51eunicelam 12:41, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- As for the seond point you have made about the title of the page I created, I don't quite understand what you meant. How do you think I can correct it?51eunicelam 12:41, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)
-
- I have made some changes in the titles of the pages I created. Is that what you mean? Thanks. 51eunicelam 13:24, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)
-
-
- Yup, I really appreciate the work you done and I don't mind which page would be deleted. Indeed, the content of the two pages ar the same. Maybe I let you choose it as I don't know how to delete a existed page.^^"50precilachan 17:00, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

-
- Maybe I do not explain the method well. Or can you take a look on this talk page with the sub-title called Titles. It is reply from Angela and she gives a well explanation on how to make the title of an album. I think you can understand my meaning after looking that paragraphy.50precilachan 17:00, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

-
- For those existing links, some are still having problems on the title such as Twins Magic and Twins Happy Together. Based on Angela's suggestion, they should be changed to Magic (Album) and Happy Together (Album). I am sorry that since I still do not know how to edit the title of a page, so that I need your help to do it. Thanks very much. Let's add oil together.50precilachan 17:00, 27 Feb 2004 (UTC)

- haha...Actually I don't know how to delete the existing page either, so , in order to have a correct title for the pages, I've done something really silly. I just created another new pages instead and copy the information in the original pages into the new pages. Therefore, if you have any opinion about the pages, please post it here. I know that there may be some problems after I've done such silly thing. Can anyone teach me how to delete the old pages?? Seems very helpless now...51eunicelam 18:38, 28 Feb 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Can anyone tell me how to delete an existing link?
please help 51eunicelam 18:59, 28 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Only sysops can delete pages, and there are rules as to what we can delete. Is it an article with the wrong name that you want to delete? If so, the best thing to do is just move the page to the correct title. This leaves the old page as a redirect. You can do this using the "Move this page" link to the right. If the title you want to move the page to already exists then you will have to ask a sysop to help you (I can do that if necessary). If I've misunderstood your need let me know -- sannse (talk) 16:33, 28 Feb 2004 (UTC)
-
- I've just read above and understand more now. The best thing to do is change the old pages into redirects. This is done by replacing the text with:
-
- #redirect [[new title]]
-
-
- Thanks for your explaination, but I am still quite not sure what should I do. It seems very compliacted. As I am still not familiar with the editing skills of the wikipedia, I dare not to make any great changes. But anyway, thank you very much. 51eunicelam 10:52, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Advertisement
I am thinking whether we should make a list showing the advertisements Twins have taken part in, as we have said that Twins have many other activities other than their singing business. But the problem is that we will have to translate all those products name into English, which may take a long time.51eunicelam 24:19, 29 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I think the content can be richer after adding the list of advertisements. If the working load is too high, maybe we can share the workload.50precilachan 13:42, 29 Feb 2004 (UTC)
-
- I have added some of the adverstisments in the article. However, it is not the all lists. Also, only some english version are given.50precilachan 23:57, 1 Mar 2004 (UTC)

- I have already added back the english name of those missed advertisements.50precilachan 12:51, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Twins Effect
I add this part because I think it is quite true and the effect can be obviously seen.50precilachan 23:57, 1 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, I think it's a good idea too. ^^ .51eunicelam 10:54, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Twins in the coming future
I think teh last paragraph of that part is slightly off-topic. I think it is better to delete it.50precilachan 04:26, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I agree with you. But after deleting the last paragraph, it seems that there will be nothing left. May be we should write more in the part of Twins' future. .51eunicelam 22:26, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
-
- I have already added a paragraphy for it. It may help.50precilachan 14:52, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
-
-
- I think this paragraph has a little too much POV in it. Can we tone it down or remove it. -- Quinwound 06:56, Mar 5, 2004 (UTC)

-
-
-
- sorry. I do not quite understand the meaning of POV.50precilachan 04:28, 10 Mar 2004 (UTC)

-
-
-
-
- "POV" is an abbreviation we use on Wikipedia a lot. It stands for "point of view". As you know, all articles on Wikipedia should be written from a neutral point of view, Quinwound is saying he/she feels that the paragraph is not neutral enough. For example: "one thing is certain that in the near future, Twins will probably become one of the most popular singers in Hong Kong", this sounds like something a fan would write, not necessarily the neutral view. You might say instead: "Twins have become increasingly popular and, if this continues they may become one the most popular groups in Hong Hong". I hope this helps -- sannse (talk) 19:52, 10 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Definition of twin
I think the definition of "tein" is not necessary to put here because it does not have any direct relationship between "twin" and "Twins".
[edit] Suggestion of a translation
I have a suggestion that may be we can translate the song '明愛暗戀補習社' by its meaning such as 'Tutorial centre of Love' or 'Love tutorial centre' something like that. As i think that even though we traslation the name into pinying, foreign readers may still not be able to understand. 51eunicelam 20:36, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I think that it's better to translate it into pinyin because it is impossible for us to translate all the name of the songs into those sensible meaning. Also, the foreigners may still find it is difficult to understand the songs.50precilachan 12:46, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
-
- Also, I have already translated all the songs' name into pinyin for those links we created.50precilachan 12:55, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
-
-
- Oh yes, I have forgotten that we have listed out all the songs of Twins. I agree that using pinying is more convenient. Thanks for translating all those name into pinying. It must have taken you a long time.51eunicelam 21:16, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
-
[edit] Suggestion of deleting the chinese words
I noticed that since those chinese words are not interested by the foreginers, then should we need to delete those words?? Indeed, I have deleted those related to the advertisement part. And I find that the article looks better without those chinese words. 50precilachan 13:08, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Maybe we can delete those chinese characters except for the content of the CD. 51eunicelam 23:28, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Still one more name needed to be translated
There is still the name of the third concert that we haven't translaled. Should we translate it into pinying also? 51eunicelam 21:30, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I think it's better to translate it into pinyin, too. I can do it.50precilachan 14:12, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
-
- Thank you. 51eunicelam 23:21, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Page move and disambigs
I've moved the page back to "Twins", IMO it don't need to be disambiguated (see Pixies for a similar situation). I've also worked on sorting the dismbiguation of album titles. The albums are at:
- the album title alone if there is no confusion in that - e.g. Amazing Album
- "title (album)" if there is another meaning of the word - e.g. Magic (album)
- "title (Twins album)" if there is an album of the same name by a different band - e.g Evolution (Twins album)
-- sannse (talk) 19:01, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks you a lot. As I am familiar with wiki, so your kind help really helps us ar.50precilachan 04:30, 10 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit] biased statements by Norman Lloydbottom
I've removed statements by Norman Lloydbottom about popularity of individual members, as they seem biased as it's consistent with the user's other edits at the individual member's article.
[edit] Harshness
Wow, there is some harshness near the top of the article about offtune singing and unco-ordinated dancing. Can we reword a bit ??? novacatz 01:30, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
- Charlene sings pretty well, doesn't she? KVenzke 01:12, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
-
- Let's face it, they can't really sing. They just look pretty and sweet. And all these young HK people wonder why no one wants to listen to HK pop any more. But everyone over 35 remember fondly the days from the 1970s and 1980s when singers could hold a tune. Was Roman Tam boyishly cute? No way but it was easy to just fall in love with his singing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.171.76.138 (talk) 01:36, 25 April 2007 (UTC).
-
-
- A good singer which is not cute cannot prove that pretty and sweet singers can't sing.
-
- Everyone has different opinions, and no one can tell whether they are accurate or just attacks from people who don't like twins. In these days, even newspaper can contain a lot of wrong information and biased comment, either for and against twins. It is meaningless to include newspaper links. However, I think personal comment should not be included in the free encyclopedia. I prefer removing personal comment, e.g. 66.171.76.138 posting.
[edit] Incident with Gillian
I think Gillian's incident with the hidden camera photos should be included here. I would like to know who deleted that section, and why.
Yeah, I think it should be added too. Don't hide true facts just becase someone doesn't like it.
- I believe, the incident has more to do with Gillian that it does with the group Twins, which is why I moved it. Anyone else have a different point of view? Luke 20:01, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Appraisal and criticism section removed
I have removed the appraisal and criticism section temporarily. To be fair these criticism can be applied to any singer in any industry.
