This is a pool for predicting the date at which the number of articles (as defined by the official article count presented on the Special:statistics) in the English Wikipedia reaches 20,000,000 (twenty million). The person who comes closest to the actual date is the winner (of eternal fame). The current number of articles in the English Wikipedia is 2,411,250.
This pool will be closed for entries when the English Wikipedia article count reaches 15,000,000, so be sure to place your guess before then. This pool opened on September 9, 2007, shortly before the 2,000,000th article was created.

[edit] Never
- I feel quite sure Wikipedia is now so developed that it might be too finished before reaching 20M articles. Georgia guy 14:59, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] In the Past
- By the time Wikipedia has 20M articles, time travel will have been invented, and the last article will be posted by someone researching (on-location) something that happened in the past. --Ye Olde Luke 23:53, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

- 03:14:07 UTC on Tuesday, January 20, 2038. 24 hours previously a vast number, perhaps 80%, or all websites will have crashed, hard. Wikipedia will of course be one of those that remains, and the dispossed of other sites will overrun Wikipedia, creating a blitzkrieg of articles totally irrelevant to the purpose of an encyclopedia, but the rate will overwhelm our defences, and in this maelstrom the 20 millionth article will be created.
After this event all these pages will be moved to the new Asylum: namespace, thus allowing a second 20 millionth article to be created in the distant future. M0ffx 00:24, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
