[edit] History of TV TOKYO

On April 12, 1964, the TV station was started by the Japan Science Promotion Foundation. On July 1, 1968, "Tokyo Channel 12 Production, Ltd." (株式会社東京12チャンネルプロダクション Kabushiki Kaisha Tōkyō 12 Channeru Purodakushon?) was founded.

In October, 1973, the company was renamed "Tokyo Channel 12, Ltd." (株式会社東京12チャンネル Kabushiki Kaisha Tōkyō 12 Channeru?), and took over the TV broadcasting from the foundation. In 1981, the TV station was changed to "Television Tokyo Channel 12, Ltd." (株式会社テレビ東京 Kabushiki Kaisha Terebi Tōkyō?).

In 1983, it made a network called "Mega TON Network" (now TXN) (メガTONネットワーク Mega TON Nettowāku?) with TV Osaka, and TV Aichi. In December, 1985, the head office moved from Shibakoen to Toranomon. On December 12, 1999, the sub stadio opened at Tennozu Isle. On June 25, 2003, English name of the TV station changed from "Television Tokyo Channel 12, Ltd." to "TV TOKYO Corporation". In 2004, TV TOKYO celebrated its 40th anniversary.
