[edit] History

TV Squad was initially envisioned by WIN CEO Jason Calacanis as a destination for fans of television shows to read reviews of not only recently aired episodes of television programs, but also reviews of episodes of TV shows of the past. It was quickly realized that readers of TV Squad were much more interested in reading television news and reviews of current programs, which is the primary format the weblog follows today.

TV Squad has become a frequent destination for readers looking for the latest insight into television shows such as Lost, and American Idol, as well as spoilers for any of the more popular television shows currently airing. The TV Squad bloggers also interview television celebrities and persons in the industry, offering them transcribed and occasionally with an accompanying audio attachment. The weblog also once featured several podcasts, including the TV Squad All Points Bulletin and the TV Squad Lost Podcast. In December 2006, the site added a daily TV news video blog produced by video blogger Brigitte Dale until January 7, 2008. On February 12, it was finally announced that her videos would no longer be featured on the site. Dale went on to produce her own weekly video blog on her MySpace and YouTube accounts.

The site underwent a redesign on April 9, 2007, including a new logo, front page reorganization and navigation restructuring.

TV Squad was originally conceptualized to allow any WIN blogger to write about the television shows they watch. Eventually a core group of bloggers for the site was realized, with several other WIN bloggers contributing on an irregular basis. TV Squad currently has approximately 20 regularly contributing bloggers.

As with most other WIN blogs, TV Squad has editorial lead bloggers. These lead bloggers are responsible for activating posts, managing bloggers, assigning features and working with outside media contacts.
