Thanks for uploading Image:Computer 256.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Information given. Just so other users don't get thoughts. :D --TV-VCR watch 08:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your user page

Re your help desk question, the following code (for the whole page) should put the contents into one table inside the one with the curved edges. Looks a little different, but no stacking, so give it a try if you want! mattbr30 15:59, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Eject21.png

Hi TV-VCR! The image had no source information.

You need, in the next 48 hours, to add to the image's page the following information:

  • Who created this image?
  • Who owns the copyright to this image?
  • Where did this image come from?

Even GFDL work has a copyright holder (copyright cannot be disclaimed, only freely-licensed) so we need to know who that is.

When you've added it, you can delete the template on the page asking you to do so and all will be in order.

Hope this helps - happy editing! RΞDVΞRSЯΞVΞЯSΞ 10:37, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Banana cream pie AfD

Hello, TV-VCR. I noticed earlier today that you added a notice to Banana cream pie that it would shortly be listed at articles for deletion. I noticed it several hours later and no subpage was created. I have no opinion on whether or not it should be deleted, but I do not think that afd tags should be sitting without a subpage, so I removed the notice; if you intend to nominate the page for deletion, feel free to add the tag back in and create the subpage. --Iamunknown 03:42, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Dancing Banana.gif

Hello, TV-VCR. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Dancing Banana.gif) was found at the following location: User:TV-VCR/Vandalism. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 23:37, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The page that love built

Hi, I love User:TV-VCR/Vandalism. I've got one just like it, User:Dfrg.msc/test site. You must teach me you ways. Cheers! Dfrg.msc 05:53, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Also, I just realized it's up for deletion. I though the template was a joke at first. Dfrg.msc 05:57, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
It's gone. Dfrg.msc 09:05, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of my comment on the ref desk

Hi, you removed my comment on the refdesk in this edit [1]. Please don't remove other's comments unless there is a compelling reason to do so. Thanks. -- Diletante 20:32, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

I am suprised that you did it again [2]. WP:TALK#Others' comments lists the times when it is acceptable to edit other's comments. Please don't remove comments unless it meets on of those criteria. Thanks. -- Diletante 15:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:VLC Vista.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:VLC Vista.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] This is different

VLC is open-source software that pretty much looks the same on all platforms. Per WP:NFCC, fair use images may only be used if a free image can be created that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose. On Firefox, screenshots of Firefox running on non-free operating systems are only used to show the new theme designs implemented on the current beta version of Firefox, and this is signifigant enough to warrent fair-use imagry. On Wikipedia, we have a priority as much as possible to get pictures of open-source software running on a free operating system. Unless the Windows version has a signifigant difference other than the platform that can't be explained with prose, it's replacable fair use and has to go. ViperSnake151 17:15, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:VLC Vista.png

I have restored the image and moved the discussion here. -Regards Nv8200p talk 17:42, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

VLC can do themes? You could put it in as a theming system example if the theme is freely-licensed. Also, your example is flawed, Norton Antivirus is as non-free as the OS its running on. That image is in compliance with WP:NFCC. VLC on the other hand, is open-source software that can be used on many platforms. ViperSnake151 17:44, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

I added a little extra to my theme message, and your example saying that "all Vista screenshots of ANY software has to go". To clarify, there is a difference between Norton Antivirus and VLC. Norton Antivirus is non-free, VLC is free. A picture of a free program running under a non-free OS that is in a state original enough to be copyrighted by the creator, is non-free. If the program can run on a free operating system however, this is replcable fair use UNLESS the non-free image can be used to describe something different (for instance, see my Firefox example).
