Turua is a small farming community located on the Hauraki Plains, southeast of Auckland in the North Island of New Zealand. There are 441 households in Turua. In 2006 Turua Primary School had a roll of 184 students, the school holds annual calf days, gala days and monster garage sales. Turua has a hall that is available to hire for functions and parties. Thirty percent of Turua households have access to the Internet. The population of Turua in 1996 was 1337 an increase of 12 over the 2001 census figure. The Piako Ostrich Farm [1] is situated close to Turua and has been open since 1999.
