Turramurra High School is a public comprehensive co-educational high school located in South Turramurra, a residential area on the North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1967, although the current premises weren't occupied until 1968, it adjoins the Lane Cove National Park. The school has links with nearby Macquarie University and the Whitehouse Insititute of Design as well as local business organisations. In 2007, the school principal is Graeme McMartin. Turramurra High School also celebrates its 40th anniversary in the 2007 year.

Turramurra High School is a state comprehensive; co-educational High School located on Sydney's North shore. It caters for students from Year 7 to 12. Centrally located the school gives easy access to Sydney and its tertiary institutions. Set in pleasant grounds, Turramurra High School is a school which offers personalised attention and wide range of curriculum alternatives. The professional staff of the school assist students to adapt to the world in a world of fast-advancing technology where lifelong modern education is essential. Many past students are well-known in other areas, for example Shane Gould and Sarah Rose.

Turramurra High School provides a quality learning environment which promotes the best possible educational social, cultural and recreational development of the individual. The guiding principle of Turramurra High School is to meet the needs of students so that they become lifelong learners and responsible citizens. The aim is to enhance the learning of all students, building positively on their experiences while respecting the dignity of others. The school seeks, within our community, to foster self-esteem and the achievement of personal standards of excellence.

Turramurra High School has an enviable reputation for outstanding musical achievement. The comprehensive band program enables students to actively participate in a music program that delivers an enriched musical experience, enjoyment and a sense of teamwork. The Turramurra High School Band Program has tremendous support from within the School community, from parents and others from within the general community. It is highly regarded and is widely recognised for outstanding commitment and achievement.Our bands have won many competitions and have performed at many prestigious events in Australia and overseas. We welcome all participants to the program and trust your musical experience will be both challenging and rewarding.

  • Concert Band 1 is the premium concert band, performing classical and contemporary pieces, committed and dedicated to competitions and achieving the highest possible standards.
  • Concert Band 2 also performs classical and contemporary pieces, at a standard level, with some competition but with a greater emphasis on school and community performances.
  • Concert Band 3 consists of new members of the Band program, where abilities and talents are fostered in a more relaxed environment, or where members are less interested in public performances. Members progress to more senior bands based upon ability, commitment and level of interest.
  • Stage Bands 1 and 2 are smaller groups of musicians from the brass, woodwind and percussion families that play pieces of a jazz orientation. Stage Band 1 is our senior jazz group.
  • String Ensemble focuses on string instruments. This group is regularly integrated with a concert band to perform.
  • Sax Ensemble is a small group of specialists that also combine with the Stage and Concert Bands for gigs.
  • Rock Band is coordinated by the School but is supported through the Band program, with members rehearsing during school time.

Turramurra High School promotes an active sports program and believes that sport is an integral part of the development of the whole person.

The school has a long sporting tradition of excellence and competes in inter house, interschool, regional (CHS) and State level. Turramurra High School holds annual athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals and have had many students progress to Regional and State levels in these sports.

Sporting facilities include two school ovals, basketball courts, indoor basketball court, volley ball court. The school is centrally placed to a number of sporting facilities such as 'The Field of Dreams' baseball diamond, Aluba Oval, West Pymble Pool, Canoon Tennis Courts & Netball Courts, West Pymble & Hornsby Gyms, Macquaire Ice Rink and many dedicated ovals inside our area.
