For the Valencian confection, see Turrón (Spanish cuisine).

Turrón (Tagalog: turon) is a typical Philippine snack. Though many varieties exist, a turrón at its core, consists of plantain and jackfruit wrapped in a springroll wrapper, dipped in brown sugar, then fried. This somewhat resembles banana spring rolls.

[edit] Recipe

Medium bananas - 5
Egg roll wrappers Brown sugar (for each turon) - 1/8 tsp.
Canola oil

Cut banana in half, and cut each half into 3 pieces. Place on top of lumpia wrapper and roll into shape of eggroll. Seal the ends with water or egg white. Fry in canola oil at medium-high and sprinkle 1/8 teaspoon of sugar over your turon. The Sugar will caramelize and stick to your turon. Flip your turon to coat evenly with caramelized sugar and golden brown. Remove from pan and set over wax paper for a couple of minutes and ENJOY!

If desired, sesame seeds maybe sprinkled while turon is still hot and the sugar has not set. Maybe served with ice cream for desert or as is for snack!
