[edit] History
It was founded in 1992 by Mary Ann Turnbull and moved to its present location on former National Capital Commission farmland in 1996, the property being 5 1/2 acres. The initial building included two levels of classrooms, one computer lab, a library, offices, and the Turnbull Learning Centre (the "part-time academic assistance" branch of the school established in 1981). The school recently underwent a major expansion, completed in 2003, that saw the addition of a state-of-the-art computer lab and science lab (both equipped with SmartBoard technology), numerous new classrooms, a new double gymnasium with a fold-down stage, an arts room, and common areas.

[edit] Green School Recognition
On April 20, 2007, Turnbull was recognized by the SEEDS Foundation as completing 100 Green School projects.[1] Only a few hundred schools in Canada are a member of this prestigious club. Such projects that were recognized were Science Fairs, painting a garbage can and many other activities.
[edit] Twinning
The school is twinned with Sephapenong Primary School in Lesotho, which is helped by the organization Help Lesotho.

[edit] Awards and Graduation
Every year, on the second Friday of June, Turnbull has a big graduation for its grade 8s.
- The Arthur Evans Award- Arthur Evans (Mary Ann Turnbull's father) was a great athlete but valued fairplay and sportsmanship above all. Winner is the best person that shows these qualities.
- The Doreen Best Award- Doreen Best was Turnbull's Administrator since the beginning. She was kind to all the students and faculty alike. She taught the students to be respectful of each other.
- Valedictorian Award- Awarded to the most respectful, intelligent student in the Grade 8 year. This year's Valedictorian was Cameron Wyatt.
