A turn-based MMORPG is a type of MMORPG that runs by giving the users turns or ticks to do things. These types of games are typically text-based. Turns are given out every set increment of time. Frequently to provide funding for the website, extra turns or perks can be bought.

These MMORPG games have in recent years had a population decline. Some older games are losing up to 80% of their playerbase, while other newer games seem to be on the rise.
